Elizabeth "Betty" Dickson

KINGSPORT - Mrs. Elizabeth Sitgreaves Dickson (Betty), 87, of Kingsport, TN, died Monday, August 18, 2025.

Born in Bristol, Betty graduated from Blountville High School in 1954 and Virginia Intermont College in 1956. She worked as a technical librarian for Tennessee Eastman from 1956-1960.

Once she and husband Bill started their family, she became active in her community. She was active in her children's schools, served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and filled numerous roles at Bethel Presbyterian Church and later, First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport. She held an honorary life membership in Presbyterian Women. Betty loved spending time with family, watching her birds and seeing the balloon glow at Funfest.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. (Bill) Dickson, Jr. and her younger brother, Robert Sitgreaves.

Survivors include her brother, Jack A. Sitgreaves; her six children, Kathy Emerson (Doug), Cindy Sharitt (Don), Billie Walden (Cleon), Sally Hull (Dan), John Dickson (Kim), Joe Dickson (Shelly); fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport. The family will receive friends following the service.
