Elsie Wallen Obituary
Ruth was born on July 16, 1936 and passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the age of 87 ½ years old. She was a loving, compassionate and giving wife, mother and sister. Ruth was a hard worker, taking care of her family and Ken's grandfather, Pappy.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth, who passed away October 8, 2022; mother and father, Bonnie and David (Tobe) Crawford; brother, Ross Crawford; sisters, Edna Light, Mae Morelock, Lora Morelock, Hazel (Toots) Bragg, Thelma Whetsel, Faye Lamb and Linda McAmis.
Survivors include son, Jeffrey Wallen and wife Lisa; granddaughter, Chelsea Wallen; great-granddaughters Bailey and Kiya Wallen; sisters Darlene (Roscoe) Morelock, Opal Taylor, Kathy (Roy) Dolen, Sue (Tim) Dolen; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Dan Dolen officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 2501 Highway 81, Jonesborough, TN 37659. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wallen, Bailey Wallen, Allen Morelock, Mike Morelock, Daniel Morelock, Jason Gardner and Sammy Whetsel.
The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Karen, Brenda Shaw, Lisa Wallen and Amedisys Healthcare workers, Tammy, Theresa, Carrigan, Tamala, Martha, Laura, Lindsey, Connie, Angela and Felecia, and Chaplin Tom for their loving care.
