Ernest "Ray" Olinger June 28, 1941- June 28, 2024
Ray Olinger passed away on June 28, 2024, on his 83rd birthday. He was born on June 28, 1941, in Kingsport, TN to the late Luther "Ernest" and Beulah (Barker) Olinger. He was a 1959 graduate of Lynn View High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Accounting. Ray retired from Eastman in 1999 as a Systems Associate, following 37 years of service.
Preceding him in death was his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Lee (Jackson) Olinger; parents; brothers, Jerry Olinger of Manchester, OH and Glenn Olinger of Hampton, TN; special family and friends including Harold Hurt of Winston Salem, NC, Marty Leimkuher of Kingsport, Ralph Abernathy of Kingsport and Dwayne Austin of Johnson City.
Those surviving are his daughter, Lisa (Olinger) Stidham and husband, Eric; two grandchildren, Abby and Nathan Stidham all of Jonesborough; sister-in-law, Jean Olinger of Hampton; nephews, William "Bill" Jr. and Pam Jackson of Sarasota, FL, Roger and Dee Jackson and Ricky and Ellen Jackson of Carthage, NC. Special friends include Brenda Abernathy, Ray McDavid, David and Jeanie Wampler, Charles Muse; as well as many others.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 11:00am - 12:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.

The Olingers were neighbors of ours for several years. They were simple people with a nice turn. Ray was the most personable of the boys and we got to talk often. I always held the entire family in high esteem. May God give you the grace and mercy that will carry you through this difficult time.
