KINGSPORT - Evelyn Charlotte Samples, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 24, 2025.
She was born December 23, 1937, in Nickelsville, VA to the late Lonnie and Juanita Harris Culbertson.
Evelyn was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was a strong-willed and independent lady who loved her family dearly.
Evelyn was a committed Christian and member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church.
She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and shopping.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Kyle Culbertson, and Jimmy Culbertson; sister, Elizabeth Clark; grandchildren, Jason Overman, and Melissa Overman.
Those left to cherish Evelyn's memory are her loving husband of sixty-six years, Wayne Samples; children, David Lee Samples, Pamela Lynn Samples, Penny Renee Samples Brooks, and Gina Samples Dove; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Parton, and Phyllis Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 am in the funeral home chapel.
Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Owens officiating.
Graveside Service will follow at 12:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any Alzheimer's or Dementia organization of the donor's choice.
