KINGSPORT - Flora Ella Johnson, age 86, of Kingsport, TN, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loved ones, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Preston Place 2 Memory Care in Kingsport, TN.

Born in Elk Valley, TN, on August 19, 1938, to the late Cassie "Cas" and Mattie Sexton, Flora devoted her life to being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Flora is remembered as a strong, hardworking and steadfast woman. A selfless, strong mother and wife. She was the very definition of a Proverbs woman. Married for 58 years, Flora and Charles raised four children, Charlie, Mike, Angie and Christa. Possessing a true servant's heart, Flora cared for her family with the deepest devotion and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. When she was not in the house, she could be seen caring for her yard, garden, and beloved blackberry patch. She was a beloved member of the Bible Way Baptist Church of Kingsport, TN. Flora will surely be missed by her loving family, church family and friends. "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:31.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Charles Johnson, Sr.; three brothers, Lewis Sexton, William "Bill" Sexton and Columbus "B." Sexton; and five sisters, Lottie Sexton- Walls, Delphia Bridges, Ester Medlin, Juanita Kelley and Cora Lee Clarkson.

Survivors include two sons, Charles "Charlie" Wayne (Charlene) Johnson, Jr. and Michael Anthony (Lisa) Johnson; two daughters, Christa Dawn Johnson and Angela Sue (Jeff) Swayze; seven grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Caitlin (Brian) Brandon, Jake (Emily) Johnson, Amber (Seth) Cullers, Dustin Swayze, Hannah Swayze and Caleb Swayze; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 5 -7PM.

Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation, in the funeral home's chapel, at 7PM, with Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating.

Burial services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11AM. All of those wishing to attend are asked to assemble in the cemetery.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the exceptional staff at Preston Place 2 Memory Care Facility who cared for Flora in the last few years of her life.
