KINGSPORT - Frederick Jay Rutherford, 68 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. He was born in Bristol, TN to the late Lynn and Pauline Rutherford. Frederick worked for Appalachian Electric Power for over 25 years before his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing. Frederick was a devoted member of Grace Point Fellowship where he served in many ways. He was a loving fiancé, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha; brothers, Sam and Larry Rutherford.

Survivors include his fiancé, Ginny Foster; sisters, Peggy Walton, Dorothy Honaker, and Charlotte Schaaf; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Paul Warrick officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Point Fellowship Building Fund.

I was stunned to see that my old pal has gone on to glory. We called him Gopher at work. I worked with him many years and countless sleepless nights getting the power back on in storms. It was my honor to serve with him. I will see you again soon old pal.
