Gary Christian Obituary

KINGSPORT - Gary Christian, 78, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and had graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. Gary was a boy scout when he was younger, being active in Troop 254. He also became a leader of Troop 254 and had served in that role for over 30 years. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a captain in the Green Berets during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Birdie Christian; and brother, Woody Christian.

Gary is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laureen Christian; daughter, Alycia Campbell and husband Brian; granddaughter, Maddison Faulk; two step-grandchildren, Caitlin and Andrew Campbell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Barb Kowalski; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
