Gary Ray Davenport, 73, of Mt. Carmel, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 16th of 2024. Gary had a deep appreciation for military, public service, and first responders, going out of his way to thank those who served. Gary enjoyed the beauty of nature and in his younger years, participated in outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sporting events. He was a fan of ETSU and Milligan women's volleyball and English Premier League soccer. He participated as a coach through Kingsport Youth Soccer Association and enjoyed giving back to the youth and teaching the sports he followed. Gary attended St. Dominic's Catholic Church.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie Davenport; brother, David Davenport; and sister, Karen Sensabaugh.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Davenport; son, Eric Davenport and wife, Cacie; grandchildren, Campbell and wife, Leah, Carlin and Caroline; sister, Brenda Chess and husband Tony; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 11:00am-12:00pm at St. Dominic's Catholic Church. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm at St. Dominic's with Father Michael Cummins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org.

So sorry to hear the sad new. I will alway rem. All the time Gary and I had at West View grade school and Lynn View high school. My prayers are with the family.
