Gerald Horton Obituary

11/02/1950- 1/31/2024

Returned to His Fathers home to join the love of his life Christine.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed archeology, bow hunting, muzzleloading, fishing, and loved to be outdoors or on the water.

He was a very proud American serving in the US Navy on board the USS Chilton. He was often the practical joker and was written up once for squirting a water hose on a co-worker who was being annoying.

"Mike" loved the Lord and was a faithful servant teaching Bible study at times. He was a member of Lakeway Church of God.

Mike was born in Surgoinsville Tn to Robert and Nell Horton. He was employed at Pet Milk, BASF Lowland, and John Deere Power Products of Greeneville.

He is survived by a daughter Shannon Childress and Husband Greg; three grandchildren Brittani Drake and husband Dustin, Matthew and Fiancé Adrienne Childress, Cassidy and Husband Josh Johnson. Great-grandchildren Myla, Caleb, Hannah, Grayson, Conner, Emerson, and soon to be Baker. A son Robert and wife Carla Lawson and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Christine Horton, his parents Robert and Nell Horton, and a brother Robert Horton.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, Feb. 5, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Stubblefield Funeral Home, Morristown.

Military graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport.
