KINGSPORT - Hagan Richard Bowen, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025. Born and raised in Scott County, VA, he moved to Kingsport in 1972 after meeting the love of life while working at the press, marrying and living the remainder of their lives here. He worked at Kingsport City Press, later retiring from Hawkins County Press after 42.5 years of service. Hagan was a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and volunteered at Meals On Wheels. He enjoyed fishing and working on the farm. Hagan loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Bowen; parents, Kedrick and Ivalene Bowen; sister, Kathlene Russell; brother, Teddy Bowen; and niece, Tammy Mullins.

Hagan is survived by his sister, Wanda Bowen; nieces, Hope Bellamy (Wayne) and Kelly Lawson; special great-nephew, Jason Bellamy and several other great nieces and great nephews; and several cousins; and special friends, Linda Durham, Judy Miller, Danny and Teresa Livesay, Odie and Donny Rasnic, Dennison brothers, Jim Woods, and Lamar Herndon.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Associate Pastor Michael Kaywood and Preacher James Mann officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bellamy, Patrick Watson, Wayne Bellamy, Josh Eagan, Jay Eagan, and Donnie Rasnic.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Woods, Danny Livesay, and Lamar Herndon, Tony Bowman, Marion Dennison and David Dennison.
