Harold Pierce Obituary

Harold Pierce, a businessman, community leader, and lifelong supporter of the University of Tennessee, is remembered for both his professional accomplishments and his lasting impact on everyday life. For many who grew up in the 1970s, he was the man behind the memorable red tablets students chewed in school to reveal how well they had brushed their teeth. As a salesman for Colgate, he helped introduce plaque-disclosing tablets to classrooms across America-an initiative that helped prevent countless cavities while teaching a generation of children the importance of good dental hygiene.

In later years, Harold became a successful businessman with a focus on banking and financial growth. He played an instrumental role in the sale of Landmark Bank and was involved in numerous other bank acquisitions throughout his career. His leadership and insight led to service on several bank boards, where he helped guide institutions through periods of growth and change.

A devoted Tennessee Volunteer fan, Harold maintained strong ties to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. While attending the university, he served as president of the Sigma Chi fraternity chapter. Years later, his son, Charles, would hold the same honor, continuing a proud family tradition at the university.

Harold will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his leadership in business, and the legacy he built through family, community, and the many lives touched along the way.
