Helen Thornburg Obituary
KINGSPORT - Helen Thornburg, 85, of Kingsport, TN went to be with the Lord after winning her battle with cancer on Friday, May 12, 2023. A lifelong resident of Kingsport, Helen served her community as a nurse at Indian Path for 20+ years. She will be remembered for her love of dancing, bingo, scratch tickets and most of all, her family. Her memory will not soon be forgotten, and we look forward with fond memories until the day we meet again.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Blake Sage; brothers, Garland, Frank and Billy Sage; sisters, Juanita Whitson, Bobbie Dickerson; son, David Thornburg.
Survivors include her daughters, Beth Thornburg Orfield and husband, Shawn, and Stacia Thornburg; sister, Louise Jones; several nieces and nephews and her special maltase, Pebbles.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Debbie and Pam at Wexford House for their care for Helen.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Tim Nelson officiating.
