Herbert Neal Howe, Sr.

CHARLOTTE, NC - Herbert Neal Howe, Sr., age 94, formerly of Rogersville, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House, Charlotte, NC, after a period of declining health. Herb was a faithful member of various Baptist Churches in Kingsport and Rogersville and served as chairman of board of deacons while at Rogersville First Baptist Church.

Herb graduated from Rogersville High School where he was quarterback of the football team. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with a major in chemistry and minor in mathematics. He joined the United States Navy during the Korean War and served on the aircraft carrier "Coral Sea" as an aircraft mechanic. Herb had a long and successful career with The Clorox Company with several promotions culminating in his final position in Atlanta, GA, before retiring to his beloved home town of Rogersville. In later years Herb moved to Charlotte, NC, to be closer to his family. Mr. Howe was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Howe, son Gerald Howe, and parents Neal and Geneva Howe.

Herbert is survived by his daughter Donna Howe Clark of Charlotte, NC, son Herbert Neal Howe Jr of Fort Mill, SC, and beloved friend Joan Dinger of Charlotte, NC.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025, in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside service will follow visitation at McKinney Cemetery with Rev. Trey Meek officiating.
