James Earnest Fansler June 28, 1932- April 25, 2024
GATE CITY, VA - James Earnest Fansler, age 91 of Gate City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and was reunited with his wife on Thursday, April 25, 2024. James was born on June 28, 1932, in Hawkins County, TN to Lofton and Lillie Fansler. On February 4, 1956, James married the love of his life, Dorothy Hensley, and after 66 years of a beautiful life together and raising a family, she preceded him in death on November 4, 2022.
James loved his family, and he loved serving his Lord and Savior. James enjoyed gardening and serving as a local missionary. He was a devout Christian, and he was a charter member of Vicars Chapel where he served as a deacon.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Dorothy Fansler; one sister, Virgie Falin; and three brothers, Paul Fansler, I.D. Fansler, and Orville Fansler. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debbie Chapman and husband, Craig; two sons, Jerry Fansler and wife, Johnita, and Mike Fansler; grandchildren, Amanda Porter, Malissa Fansler, Amber Lewis, Ashley Carter, and Megan Carmack; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Stella Pierson and husband, Jim; one brother, Audley Fansler; his cherished sister-in-law, Opal Thacker; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery with Brother Aaron Tate and Brother Andy Tate officiating. Randy Fansler, Billy Thacker, Craig Chapman, Justin Carter, Andrew Lewis, Nicholas Fansler, Scott Porter, and Jack Sanders will be serving as Pallbearers. Donnie Tate and Harold Tate are Honorary Pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
