I worked with Jim for three years from 1989 to 1992 in the street crimes unit of the Richmond Police Department. Jim was not only a true detective but a friend. He helped me in many ways. Not with just police work but also life. If I had known he was in a bad way I would have been there with him. He is in a good place now. End of tour for the last time. At peace now with Jesus.

While all of us are saddened by the passing of a true Patriot we are truly thankful that he lived and we were able to share this time on earth with him. We served together in the Pace Unit at the PD UNIT 460 was his call sign, one heck of a officer and friend . He served his Country and Community with honor and we will miss him greatly. Our heart felt sympathy is extended to Sue and his entire family.

Jim (as we all called him on the Richmond Police Department) was an excellent police officer. I rode with him often after I graduated from the Police Academy. He mentored me and we became friends. I also rode in the Police helicopter with him after he received his pilots license. I'm so sorry to learn of his passing. He was one of those individuals who come along once in a lifetime and you consider yourself fortunate to have met them. My sincere condolences to his family
