James Robert Morelock

November 16, 1934 -

March 25, 2025

KINGSPORT - James Robert Morelock, age 90 of Kingsport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. James was born on November 16, 1934, in Hawkins County, TN to Samuel Gaines and Florra Morelock. On July 15, 1959, James married the love of his life, Charlotte Mowell, and after 65 years of a beautiful marriage, she survives.

James was an avid NASCAR and boxing fan. He enjoyed cattle farming and working in his garden. His family was the jewel of his heart, as he cherished every moment he spent with them. James was a devoted member at the Church of Jesus Christ of Blairs Gap.

James was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nell Rose Lawson; and three brothers, JC Morelock, Kenneth Don Morelock, and Ronald Morelock. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Charlotte Morelock; three daughters, Patty Williams and husband Ralph, Joye Peters and husband Wes, and Tammy Morelock; two granddaughters, Katherine Williams, and Sarah Peters; one sister, Louise Lynn and husband Carl; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A graveside service will be held at Morrison Cemetery on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 am with Reverend Mark Brown officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.

Patricia, Joye, Tammy and your mother, I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost my dad and mom and it hurts, but the good Lord is the only one that can comfort your heart, but we have a promise we will see them again when the Lord brings us all together again. Again I am so sorry for your loss, keeping everyone in my prayers.

Patricia, Joye, and Tammy,
I am so sorry to read of the passing of your father. We talked frequently about NASCAR when he would visit my grandma's store, Lone Star Grocery. He was such a nice person, kind to everyone. You all are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.

Patricia, Joye, & Tammy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. 90 years old - wow, that's a long life. And you know where he is, which is a comfort. Even so I know it's hard, so prayers for y'all, your momma, and your families.
