Jenelle Arnold Hughes October 15, 1934- June 6, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Jenelle Arnold Hughes, 89 passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport TN.
Jenelle was born on Oct. 15, 1934, in the McPheeters Bend community of Church Hill. She and her husband Cliff had lived and worked for 8 years in Rockford, Illinois in the late 1950's and early 1960's for General Electric before moving back to Church Hill in 1963, to spend the rest of their lives. Jenelle had been a member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church for many years and loved her church. Jenelle also loved raising, tending to, and enjoying her flowers. She was a volunteer at the Church Hill Community Clothes Closet for over 20 years and served on the board of directors.
Jenelle was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Clifton (Cliff) Hughes in 1991; parents, B.D "Bardie" Arnold and Mary Boyd Arnold; her only sibling, Jewel Arnold Ward and her husband Clyde Ward; and special friend, Mary Arnold.
Jenelle is survived by her son, Randy Hughes (Jackie); granddaughters, Nicole Barnett, Alisa Darter (Mike), Nicole Hilton (Bobby), and Nancy Guinn (Aaron); great grandchildren, Caleb Barnett, Lelia Barnett, Brianna Darter, Kennede Hilton, Jackson, Carson, and Ainsley Guinn; nephew, Mike Ward (Pamela); and special friends, Jo Click, Barbara Dobbs, Janie Lafollete, and Joann Smith.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 ? 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Roberts officiating. Music will be provided by Chad Crigger and D.L. Smith. A graveside service will follow the funeral service in procession to McPheeters Bend Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be James Arnold Jr., Mike Darter, George Gilreath, Jim Lafollette, Tim Marsh, Mike Ward, and Jonathan Lafollette. Honorary Pallbearers are Lance Arnold, Chad Crigger, Curtis Drinnon, and D.L. Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McPheeters Bend Church Cemetery Fund at: 430 Church Road Church Hill, TN 37642.
