WEBER CITY, VA – Jerry Bennett Venable, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
Jerry, a son of the late Ralph Trigg Venable and Marie (Quillen) Venable, born September 30, 1939, in Scott County, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Venable, and sister, Linda Chase.
Jerry was veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the early 1960's. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1998. Jerry was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church. An avid golfer, Jerry thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity he spent on the golf course with his buddies.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Lana (McCloud) Venable; daughter, Rebecca (Venable) Angell and husband Max; son, Justin Venable and wife Tori; his grandchildren whom he adored, Theodore Bennett Angell, Piper Catherine Angell, Waylon Bennett Venable and Ruston Mack Venable; brother, Richard Venable and wife Phyllis; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and countless friends. He will be greatly missed for his kind spirit and lighthearted temperament by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Scott County Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1:00 pm with his daughter, Rebecca giving the eulogy and Pastor Alan Buckles officiating.
Interment will be in Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Tom and I were saddened to hear of Jerry's death. We were so sorry we couldn't be there in person to express our condolences. Know that we were with you in spirit and that you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. May our Good Father carry you through this difficult time. We love your family.
