KINGSPORT - Jimmy L. Ryans, 75, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
He was born September 3rd, 1948, to the late Homer Ryans and Hazel Gilliam Ryans.
Jimmy earned a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee. He worked and retired from Eastman as a chemical engineer for over 45 years.
He co-authored a book, "Process Vacuum Systems Design and Operation" which became a text book for companies and universities worldwide.
Jimmy has a passion for running, bike riding and reading. He was a very intelligent man with a side sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Eric Ryans.
Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory are his loving wife, Barbara Ratliff Ryans; daughter, Karina Joy Ryans Owoseni; step-son, Ronnie Hicks (Deanne); siblings, Bill Ryans (Linda), Orangie Lester (John), and Shirley Jean Gentry; nephew, Jimmy Patrick (Donna); sister-in-law, Glenda Eujeh (John); grandchildren, Cooper Burke, Ryan and Stefanee Wesmer, Misty Wesmer (Jon), and Jimmy Hernick (Kaitlyn), and very special nephews, Ronnie Burke (Amber), Jamie Burke (Shannon).
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
