KINGSPORT - Joanne Hurley McGrady, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord (Thursday March 7th, 2024)
Born in Bastian, Virginia, she has resided in Kingsport since 1931. She was employed by Sears for 18 years, retiring in 1988. Joanne was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. McGrady, son, Jonathan Alan McGrady in 1972, parents, J.P. and Minnie Tolliver Hurley and brother, Bramble Hurley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Kathy Merrill and husband David, and Robyn McGrady, three grandchildren, Shaunna McGrady, Dakota Merrill Ballentine and husband Cody and Montana Merrill, two great grandchildren, Maverick and Dylon Linkins, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff of Preston Place II for the loving care they provided Joanne.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Sunday March 10th, 2024 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Wayne Baker and her son in law, Dr. David Merrill officiating.
A graveside will be conducted at 10am Monday in East Lawn Memorial Park. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50am.
