KINGSPORT - Joe Lee McDowell, 79, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Joe was a retired engineer from Bechtel. He loved playing golf and having Friday lunches with lifelong friends and colleagues. He was an amazingly kind and gentle soul, a wonderful husband, dad, papaw, papa Joe, brother and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his son, Duffy Tao McDowell; father, Marvin J McDowell; mother, Kathryn Brown McDowell; sister, Peggy Shock; stepmom, Millie McDowell.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sandra "Sam" McDowell of the home; daughters, Babette Watson (Jimmy) of Longview, TX, Jennifer Senn Ouzts (Curt) of Leesville, SC; son, J. Gabe Senn (Amanda) of Kingsport, TN; sister, Kathy Riley (A.C.) of Lufkin, TX; brothers, Marvin Dennis McDowell (Diane) of Lufkin, TX, Glen McDowell (Ann) of Bullard, TX; seven grandsons, Brandon Bruch, Duffy McDowell Jr., Zachery McDowell, Ryan Ouzts, Tanner Ouzts, Parker Senn, and Sawyer Senn; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Bruch.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday February 17, 2023, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Joe.
