CHURCH HILL - Johnny Neeley, 71, of Church Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born in Kingsport, he had resided most of his life in the area. Johnny was a 1970 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and a 1972 graduate of Tri-Cities Vocational and Technical School. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company following 30 years of service, having worked in the "big shop", as a machinist and later as a planner/estimator. Johnny was a member of Kingsport Farmers Market. He was happiest while with his family, fishing and working in his flowers. Atlantic Beach was his favorite place to fish.
Johnny was preceded in death by his son, John Emerson Neeley; parents, J.B. Neeley and Margie Neeley Boyer; two brothers, Dwain and Roger Neeley.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Emily (Sheffey) Neeley; daughter, Carrie Neeley-Griffith and husband, Sam; grandson, Carson Griffith; brother and best friend, Gene Neeley; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members.
A Celebration of Johnny's life will be conducted at a later date.
