MOUNT CARMEL - Joyce Fern Kilgore Hillman, 88, of Mount Carmel, TN entered her Savior's arms on January 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with dementia. She was lovingly cared for by her daughters, son, granddaughters, and other family members.
Joyce was born on May 28th, 1935, in Nickelsville, Va to the late Glen C. Kilgore and Patsy Akers Kilgore.
Joyce was a very loving, caring person to all who knew her. She had a servant's heart and was always willing to help others in need. Joyce attended State Line Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She then became a charter member of Higher Ground Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher of the "Mary Class" for 25 years. She was also a Bible Study Fellowship leader for 28 years. She worked as an activity coordinator for several area nursing homes where she touched many lives. She was also a counselor at Mt. Moriah Bible Camp where she took her special granddaughter, Amber. Joyce was a wonderful mother, devoted wife, special grandmother (Mom-mom). We were blessed to have her in our lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life for 66 years, James Isaac Hillman; her loving sister, Neva Jean Kilgore Hill; her special brother, John H. Kilgore, Sr.; a very special nephew, Allen Wayne Blankenbeckler; and a special great nephew, Brent Barker. She was also preceded in death by her special neighbor and friend, Lula Johnson, and a baby sister, Linda Lou Kilgore.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hillman Tuck (Charlie), Trish Hillman Weaver, and son, J. Brian Hillman; grandchildren, Amber Vicars (David), Adam Tuck (Suzanne), Lindsay Calloway, David Tuck (Haley), Lauren Frazier (Ethan); great grandchildren, Kaleb Gilbert, Kloe Gilbert, Alex Vicars, Bella Grace Waugh, Garrett Tuck, Ethan Tuck, Dylan Grace Tuck, Caroline Frazier, Bennett Tuck, and Haden Jack Frazier. She is also survived by her two special sisters, JoAnn Kilgore Penley (Sam) and Glenna Kilgore Carter (Norman); several special nieces and nephews; special friend, Mama Jane Patterson.
The Funeral Service to honor Joyce will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Phil Hoskins will officiate. The family will receive friends following the celebration of her life. Special music will be provided by Trish Weaver and John Kilgore, Jr.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at Church Hill Memory Gardens on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Those attending are requested to meet at Oak Hill Funeral Home by 10:15 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
J. Brian Hillman (honorary), Adam Tuck, David Tuck, Kaleb Gilbert, David Vicars, John Kilgore, Jr., and Ethan Frazier will serve as pallbearers.
