June Shelton Obituary

June Pierce Shelton, age 96, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023 at Preston Place Suites. She was the daughter of Charles L. and Barbara Baker Pierce. She grew up in Roda, VA and graduated from Appalachia High School.

She married Joe Gilmer Shelton and they moved to Kingsport where they spent their lives. She retired from Holston Defense and was an active member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe; brothers: Billy, Wayne and James Pierce and sister, Vivian Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (David) Sandidge, grandsons: Colin and Spencer; all of Kingsport, and her sister, Sharon Shell of Elizabethton and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at East Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM with funeral services to follow at 2:00 with Sam Shroud officiating. Burial to immediately follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Memoriams in her honor may be directed to Colonial Heights Baptist Church, 108 Colonial Heights Road, Kingsport, TN 37663

Pam and family, so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. I always enjoyed talking to your Mother when I would run into her. She was such a lovely person. I know she will be missed greatly.
