ROGERSVILLE - Karen G. Hayes, age 65, of Rogersville passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on September 9, 1957 in Greeneville, TN. Karen was of Christian faith. She loved the Lord, her
family and friends and loved working in her flower garden. She was
preceded in death by her son Charles "Brad" Steele, parents Charles and Margaret "Susie" Elkins, sister Amelia "Amy" Gregg, paternal grandparents Allen and Thelma Elkins, maternal grandparents Lazelle and Maude Mathes, nephews Jasper and Flint Tunnell, father-in-law Johnny Hayes.
Survivors include her husband, J. Rufus Hayes,Sr., step-daughter Bernice Hayes of Rogersville, step-son Jimmie Hayes (Tammy) of Knoxville, granddaughter Virginia Hayes of Knoxville, sisters Phyllis McAdams (Joel) of Morristown, Jeannette "Jeannie" Linkous of Rogersville, Amanda Jarvis
(Steven) of Las Vegas, NV, many nieces and nephews, special niece and friend
Joell "Susie" Ramsey, special companion Chipper the dog. A special thank
you to Dr. Mailien Rogers, Oncology Morristown Hamblen Hospital, Patricia Neal Center, Fort Sanders Regional Hospital, Life Care Center of Morristown, Holly's Helping Hands, and Smokey Mountain Hospice.
Visitation will be 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023 in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robbie Drinnon and Pastor Steve McKinney officiating.
Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery.
