Kathleen Smith Heck
April 22, 1933 -
KINGSPORT - Kathleen Smith Heck, was born April 22, 1933, in Bulls Gap, TN to Charlie and Goldie Everhart.
After marrying Eugene "Smitty" Smith in 1950, they made their home in Kingsport, where they lovingly raised their four children. During those years, Kathleen was a devoted homemaker and an exceptional cook. Later, she served as secretary at Kingsley Elementary School where she was known for her warm smile and kind heart.
A student of the Bible, Kathleen read it through many times and lived out her faith daily. Her children found comfort knowing they were continually covered in her prayers. She was a charter and faithful member of Bible Baptist Church. She loved her church family and spent many years serving, cooking, and teaching there.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her children, Eugene "Smitty" Smith; daughter, Sheila Smith; her second husband, Raymond "Windy" Heck; and her brothers, Ted Light, and Junior Everhart.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sam Smith (Kim), Jerry Smith, and Traci Percer; grandchildren, who adored their "Mamaw" include Amanda Haga (Jason), Samantha Munoz (Irv), and Tanner Smith (Breanna); great-grandchildren she believed were truly "great" are Parker Haga, Sydney Haga, Kynlee Smith, Kyler Smith, and Molly Munoz. She is also survived by a special nephew, Josh Williams (Caley) and their son Luke, as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends and church family.
Kathleen's legacy of faith, love, and prayer lives on in everyone who knew her.
