"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see. Thru many dangers, toils and snares I have already come. 'Tis grace that brought us safe thus far, and grace will lead us home."
NICKELSVILLE, VA - Lillie Louise Wilder Price Burke, 91, of Nickelsville, VA, received God's grace many years ago and was led home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2024. Louise was born on April 12, 1933 in Stickleyville, VA to Robert D. and Dora Boatwright Wilder. She was of the Baptist faith and attended various local churches throughout her life. She was a treasured homemaker who deeply loved her family, friends and neighbors. Her most abounding joy in life, however, was serving the Lord. Louise will be fondly remembered for her eagerness to glorify God and her precious shout of "Bless the Lord" anytime she felt the gentle Spirit grip her soul. She enjoyed hearing the preached Word of God and loved listening to gospel music, especially when sung by her great-granddaughters.
Louise is preceded in death by her first husband of 50+ years, Joe T. Price; her second husband, Glen Burke; a son-in-law, Jack Barnette; and twelve brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son, Larry Joe Price of Nickelsville, as well as her daughter, Catherine Barnette Puckett and a special son-in-law, Jerry Puckett of Piney Flats, TN; a step-son, Darrell Burke and wife Arlis. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Donna Freeman and husband Jason, Preston Tater Price, Cathy Pape Williams, Jody Pape and Tiffany Fields; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jenna and Kelli Freeman; a beloved sister, Helen Cox; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ed McClain and Evangelist Terry Puckett officiating. Music will be provided by Jason Freeman and Louise's great-granddaughters, Jenna and Kelli.
Graveside service will follow at Addington Frame Cemetery with Pastor Freddy Freeman providing a eulogy in honor of Louise. Tater Price, Jerry Puckett, Jason Freeman, James Freeman, Wade White and Preston White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Coeburn, Darrell Burke, Jarvis Vicars and Roger Addington.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ryan Richardson and Elite Hospice nurses Kayla, Teresa and Misty for their wonderful care of Louise during her final days.
