KINGSPORT - Lois Ann Smith, age 81 of Kingsport, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she was reunited with her loving husband on Monday, February 26, 2024. Lois was born on November 24, 1942, in Scott County, VA to Isaac and Ada Roberts. After a short courtship of 35 years, Lois married her best friend and love of her life, James David Smith, on April 3, 1999; and, after 21 years of a beautiful marriage, he preceded her in death on September 17, 2020.
Lois loved her family. She was an amazing wife and homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening, and she worked 40 plus years at JC Penny. Lois loved, and she was loved. Lois was a member of Natural Tunnel Baptist Church. In her later years she attended Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church and Higher Ground Baptist Church. She will be truly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, James David Smith; and her two brothers, Ralph Roberts, and Clyde Milburn Roberts. Those left to cherish her memory are her brother-in-law, Dan Smith and wife Barbara; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the staff of NHC Kingsport and Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Lee Knowles officiating. Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Lois' family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
