SURGOINSVILLE, TN. – Mrs. Lorene Carpenter, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Church Hill Health and Rehab.
Lorene was born on July 6, 1936, in Hawkins Co., TN and was a lifelong resident. She attended Fudges Chapel Church and Oakdale Baptist Church. Mrs. Lorene was an incredibly kind, selfless, and loving person who would do anything she could for anyone. One of her greatest joys in life was her son Chris, who passed away exactly one year ago on the day of Lorene's passing. She missed him so much; he was her entire world and now they are finally reunited again. She loved animals, her little doggie, and especially all her cats. Lorene was a special woman who truly made everyone she met a better person. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her until we all meet again.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion, and Margaret Matlock; husband, Charles Otis Carpenter; son, Christopher Carpenter; sisters, Lily May Head, and Opal Matlock; and her niece (more like a sister), Leona Buchanan.
Lorene is survived by her stepchildren, Tammy Carpenter, and Mike Carpenter of Kingsport; step grandchildren, Jesse Carpenter (Rachel), and Lisa Watkins (Justin); nephew, G.C. Matlock of Kingsport; special friends, Nina Randolph and Barbara King; her two special boys, Ace and Axel; as well as many dear friends.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Freddy Freeman officiating. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 2, 2023, at East Tennessee Cemetery in Blountville. TN. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
