Louie Caltagarone Obituary

Louie Caltagarone, 97, of Reynoldsville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was born July 26, 1928, in Reynoldsville to the late Mariano and Josephine (Abate) Caltagarone. He was married to the late Ina Claire (Long) Caltagarone for 61 years, from July 6, 1950, until her passing in 2011.

Louie was the longtime owner and operator of Hummingbird Speedway, originally active from 1964 to 1975 and later revived by the family in 2000. The track recently celebrated its 25th consecutive season since reopening.

He is survived by his four children: Josephine "Babe" Caltagarone, Louie "Peach" Caltagarone, Diane (Jay) Knox, and Cindy (Joseph) Battaglia; one brother, Francis Caltagarone; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina (2011), and siblings: Martin, Monica, Mary, Sam, Mike, Charlie, Joe, Jim, Carmelita, Paul, John, and Willy.

Louie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and served on the Reynoldsville Borough Council for 42 years.

Viewing will be held Saturday, November 1, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 2, from 2 to 6 p.m., both at Snyder–d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 607 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, PA.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
