CHURCH HILL – Margaret Ellen Byington Dean, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Margaret was born in Virginia on February 25, 1944, to Walter and Daisy (Herron) Vicars. She lived most of her life in Hawkins County except for the 10 years she traveled with her husband, Verlie, who was in the Army. Margaret was a homemaker all her life who loved to sew and cook for anyone and everyone, and an avid reader. She attended Visions Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her first husband, Verlie "Bud" Byington; second husband, Paul Dean; son, Michael Byington; sister, Peggy Morris; and her brother, Ernie Vicars.

Margaret is survived by her children, Virginia B. Winstead (Steven), and Verlie "Buddy" Byington (Sonja); grandsons, Michael Bud Byington, Nicholas Byington Winstead, Logan J. Byington; 6 great grandkids; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:30 – 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kyle Falin, Preacher Nicholas Winstead, and Preacher James Adams officiating. Music will be provided by Nicholas and Sarah Winstead.
