SURGOINSVILLE - Mark Lindsey, age 51, of Surgoinsville went to be with the Lord Saturday (10/11/25) at home from an unexpected medical emergency. He was a member of Oak Glen Baptist Church. He graduated from Volunteer High School. He spent several years as a police officer with Sullivan County Sheriff Department and Mount Carmel Police Department. He started his career in law enforcement with Sullivan County Sheriffs Department in the correctional facility and was a member of the special operation response team (SORT), he later worked as a patrolman for Sullivan County. He then transitioned to Mount Carmel Police Department as a patrol and field training officer.
He was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. He enjoyed making people laugh and helping everyone. He enjoyed lifting weights, fishing, and riding his bike.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Lindsey; grandparents, Jim and Jewel Lindsey, Oscar Thacker and Eileen Barrett; uncles, Raymond Lindsey and Chester Thacker.
He is survived by his wife of which he spent the last 29 years with, Tonya Lindsey; daughter, Aleeah Lindsey, Alisha Lindsey, Alana Lindsey and Ana Hillegas; grandchildren, Mateo Triggs and Oziah Hite; father, Ralph Lindsey; brother, Chad Lindsey; aunts, Molly Davis and Betty Jean Thacker; cousin, Kevin and Lisa Lindsey.
The family will receive friends 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday (10/17/25) at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Danny Sykes officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Saturday (10/18/25) at Horne Cemetery in Stanley Valley. Friends can meet at the cemetery and those who want to go in procession will meet at Christian -Sells Funeral Home at 12:00 noon.
