Martin James Sloan March 27, 1960- July 19, 2024
KINGSPORT - Martin James Sloan,64, Kingsport, TN, died unexpectedly at his residence, Friday, July 19, 2024.
He was born March 27,1960 in Kingsport, TN, the son of the late O.H. & Elvia Hood Sloan.
Martin graduated from Rye Cove High School in 1978, and Mountain Empire Community College in 1982. He was Employed by the Scott County Public Schools as a Substitute Teacher and Assistant Football Coach.
Martin played football on championship teams at Fairview Elementary & Rye Cove High School along with his twin brother Mark. He also coached at Fairview & Rye Cove and was an avid fan of the U.T. Volunteer Football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Mark and sister-n-law Karen Sloan.
Surviving are his brothers, Lester Sloan of Duffield, VA Nephews, Jeffrey Sloan and Stephen (Barbara) Duffield, VA. Great-Nieces, Makala (Josh) Walters, Church Hill, TN and Makenzie (Austin) Bowen, Nevaeh Lane and Destiny Lane, all of Gate City, Virginia. Nephews, Isaiah Sloan & fiancé Angel Ramey, Trevor Darnell, all of Duffield, VA, Great-Great-Nephews Andrew Walters and Ace Bowen, Great-Great-Niece Aylexis Walters, Several Aunts, Cousins and a host of friends. The family will receive friends at the residence of his brother, Lester Sloan, Duffield, VA
A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced later.
