MOUNT CARMEL - Mary Lou Simone, 77, of Mount Carmel, passed away, Monday, March 18, 2024 at her home. She was born in Helena, Arkansas, moved to Memphis right out of high school, then in 2001, moved to Kingsport. She was a businesswoman before it was popular, having worked her way up in property management. Mary Lou was co-owner of National Pest Control with her husband, Frank, working out of the office in her home, while running her household at the same time. She was an avid gardener, great cook, wonderful homemaker with a great personality and big heart. Mary Lou was a dedicated member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Lena Winney; and sister, Peggy Johns.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Simone; daughter, Mary Kent Boggan; granddaughter, Stephanie Manousakis (Yanni); great-grandchild, Renos Manousakis; siblings, Lena Marie Berezniak (Ron), Crystal Eastman (Don), Teddy Winney (Beverly), and Randy Winney (Sue); along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 10:00am – 11:00am at St. Dominic's Catholic Church. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00am with Father Michael Cummins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Alzheimer's Foundation, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
