KINGSPORT - Mrs. Pamela Shannon Combs Everett, 52, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Shannon was a passionate, intense, force of nature packed into a beautiful, strong, and deceptively slight frame. She had an amazing ability to connect with people from all walks of life - from folks canning home grown vegetables to gourmet foodies; from yoga instructors to Roller Derby skaters; from 49 Winchester fans to Metallica head bangers; from pub trivia players to Medical Doctors and PhD nerds; from indoorsy bookworms to rock climbers and Appalachian Trail hikers; from faithful Christians to staunch atheists; and from single folk to married couples with kids… Shannon could form a connection in minutes and stay in touch for a lifetime. To be counted among her family and friends was a blessing punctuated by amazing meals and unfiltered straight talk. Love flowed from her kitchen and wisdom, seasoned with a good dose of her opinion, rang from her mouth. Shannon had a magic touch when it came to cooking and an invite to her purple house was a golden ticket to good eats and lively discourse.
Shannon was a lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee. Born on July 21, 1971, in Lebanon Virginia, she was the daughter of Henry "Butch" Combs and Pamela "Pi" Campbell. She graduated from Lebanon High School where she played varsity volleyball and formed many lifelong friendships with her classmates from a wide variety of social circles. She studied at SW Virginia Community College and Virginia Tech before marrying William "Bill" Taylor Fuller. Their family grew to include a daughter, Taylor Kimberly Fuller and a son, Campbell Forrest Fuller. Shannon was a devoted mother and, as the children grew older, her love for books and reading lead to work as an editor, and later Senior Editor, for several well-known publishers in the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain.
Roller Derby became a passion for her and for several years she skated for the Little City Roller Girls as 'Shannibal Wrecker'. The bonds that she built with her Derby family ran deep and she was quick to remind anyone that her derby ride or die crew had each other's backs, any hour of the day or night.
Shannon married Stuart Everett in 2017 and together they enjoyed travelling, rock climbing, standup paddleboarding, and playing pub trivia. Stuart's children, Josh, Caleb, and Abby were swept into Shannon's inner circle during these years as she steadfastly loved and guided all five of her kids through school and into adulthood.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband Stuart Everett, her parents Butch Combs and Pamela Campbell, her grandmother Emma "Mimbo" Campbell, her children Taylor and Campbell Fuller, her bonus (step) children Josh, Caleb, and Abby Everett, Taylor & Campbell's father Bill Fuller, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends.
Shannon's wish was to be cremated without a traditional funeral service. A celebration of Shannon's life will be arranged at a later date.
In lieu of gifts, donations may be made in her memory to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF.org); St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org); or Schnauzer Love Rescue (schauzerloverescue.net).

I'm so sorry you left this world. I still think of you as the young girl we took to concerts, your first double date with us. I wish our busy lives hadn't kept us apart...I love you always..
