Paul J. "Grassy" Skelton January 10, 1934- April 18, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Paul J. "Grassy" Skelton, Jr, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Paul was born on January 10, 1934, in Hawkins Co. TN, and was a lifelong resident of Church Hill. He retired from Holston Defense as a truck driver, and for a time worked at Volunteer High School, and Eastman Chemical Co. Paul was a farmer, and was in the tobacco fields every year from sunup to sundown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mining gemstones. Spending time with his family was his favorite thing to do, and he loved his family more than anything.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Skelton; parents, Andrew "Andy" and Kathaleen "Katherine" (Bishop) Skelton; papaws baby, Chloe; and his daughter-in-law, Kim (Simpson) Skelton.
He is survived by his son, Gary Skelton, Danny Skelton (Dawn); daughter, Donna Christian (Terry Shivley); sister, Pasty Stacy; grandchildren, Garrett Skelton, Grant Skelton (Jordan), Tyler Skelton (Sarah), and Todd Skelton; great grandchildren, Aiden Skelton, and Colby Skelton.
The family would like to thank Paul's special caregiver, Diana Huerner for the love and care over the last several years. The family would also like to thank Gentiva hospice, and his nurses, Lindsey, Tiffany, Tabitha, Amanda, Yolanda, Jamie, and Chaplain Steven for their love and care.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Bro. Steve Wade, and Chaplain Steven Spell officiating. A graveside service will follow in procession to Elm Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Skelton, Grant Skelton, Tyler Skelton, Todd Skelton, Dylan Roberson, and Dewey Goad. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Aiden Skelton.
