"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7
KINGSPORT - Peggy Jean Riggs, 75, went to be with Jesus on Friday April 26, 2024 at Holston Valley hospital after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Peggy was born on June 12, 1948, the daughter of Howard and Rosa Sams. She grew up in the Orebank community and graduated from Ketron High School. She was a member of Orebank Central Baptist Church.
Peggy was the loving mother to her five sons who she was very proud of. She was a wonderful mom who raised her sons to be kind, hard-working men with Christian values. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. She always wanted to help others and loved to joke with those around her. She was a creative person who enjoyed drawing, crafting, and reading. Most importantly, Peggy was a Christian and wanted others to know Jesus.
Peggy was preceded in death by her sons Brian and Mark Roberts; husband Dennis Roberts; sister Carlene Poore; brothers, Mike, Ray, and Junior Sams.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Scott Roberts, Gene Roberts (Amy), and Toby Roberts; grandchildren, Hunter, Ericka, Brandon, Vance, Lexie, Autumn, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Aary, Kyler, and Ian; sister, Mary Norton (Ed); nephews and niece, Chris, Josh, Travis, Nathan, and Brittney; special friends Ann Lewis and Diane Caldwell.
A memorial service will be held at Orebank Central Baptist Church on Sunday April 28, 2024 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Tim Risner officiating.
