Ralph Sanders passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 18th, 2025, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born October 2, 1931, he was the son of the late Jack and Rellie Sanders. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Sanders; his brothers, Fred, Bill and Guy; and sister, Romelda. Ralph was a proud veteran who served in the US Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.
He was known for his love of music, especially bluegrass, traditional country, and gospel. He was a great musician and played several different instruments and was a former member of the Reedy Creek Bluegrass Band. He loved playing bingo and participating in other activities at Brookdale Assisted Living where he had resided for almost 3 years.
He was of the Christian faith and attended Vermont United Methodist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Donna Horton and husband, Dennis; grandsons, Aaron Horton and wife, Suzie; Matt Horton and wife, Sarah; his sister, Marcella Fairchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Kimberly Isley Selby officiating. Music and the eulogy will be delivered by Dr. Joe Smiddy.
Entombment Service will follow at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Mausoleum IV. Military honors will be accorded by the Veterans Honor Guard of the Tri-Cities.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vermont United Methodist Church, 1817 Bloomingdale Pike, Kingsport, TN 37660.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staffs of Brookdale Assisted Living and Holston Valley Medical Center for their compassionate care of Ralph.
