Ralph Winstead Obituary

SURGOINSVILLE - Ralph Daniel, "Dan" Winstead, age 66, died at his home in Surgoinsville on April 12, 2025.
He was a wonderful husband, father, "Papaw", brother, and friend. Dan loved his family dearly and the highlight of his day was watching Isaac run track, Eden play volleyball and softball, Blakely and Adyson play basketball, soccer and T-ball. His grandchildren were his world.
Dan loved to do woodworking, and he has made many things we will always treasure. He was able to "fix" anything, but if he couldn't do it, he knew somebody that could.
Dan fought a ten-year battle with cancer, but you would never have heard him complain. His favorite saying was "it is what it is." His passing has left a hole in many hearts, and he will be greatly missed.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Brian Winstead (Ashlyn); daughter, Kristen Boyd (McClure); grandchildren, Isaac Boyd, Eden Boyd, Blakely Winstead, Adyson Winstead, Jacob Daniel Winstead (he's due in May); brother, and sisters, Tina Eidson (Sid), Deborah Gilliam (Kenny), and York Winstead (Lisa); brother-in-law, Jerry Henderson (Sandra); uncle, Bill Winstead; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special friends who will miss those morning phone calls, Gary Vaughn, Jeff Presley, Tom Winstead, and Jim Jones.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jon Rogers officiating. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
