Rebecca McAmis Obituary

NORTON, VA- Rebecca Kathleen Kilgore McAmis, 82, died Monday, September 4, 2023, at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield VA. She was the daughter of the late William (Bill) Kilgore and Madeline A. Kilgore.

Rebecca's love for music began at a young age with piano lessons. She was a member of the band at John I. Burton High School and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee. Rebecca later went on to college at Oglethorpe University where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. Even with this degree, music called her heart. She taught piano for over 40 years. She shared her gift with many students and felt blessed when she learned that one of them had gone on to play at Carnegie Hall.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Susannah Bullion, Church Hill, TN and granddaughter Christian Bullion, also of Church Hill, TN, brother, Bruce Kilgore and his wife Fay, of Griffin, GA, brother, David Kilgore of Kingsport, TN. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, September 9, 2023, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1025 Virginia Ave NW, Norton, VA with Rev. John Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA.
