FUNERAL HOME

Robert Larson Obituary

In the afternoon on Friday, March 7, 2025, surrounded by family, Bob passed peacefully at the age of 76 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Osseo.

Born in Phillips, WI on June 26, 1948 to the late Milton and Dorothy (Dahl). Bob was the fourth of five children. The most amazing place (according to Bob) to grow up was Ogema, WI on the family farm. When Bob's father suddenly passed away in 1961, his mother moved Bob and his youngest sister Betty to a house in town.

After graduating from Prentice High School in 1966, Bob enlisted in the National Guard and attended UW Stevens Point, majoring in world history. This is where Bob met Elizabeth Gross.

Bob and Liz were married on August 31, 1974 and had 3 children together and later divorced but remained very close up until the end.

He worked for K-Mart for over 20 years, the first few years were moving from store to store in different cities before making Menomonie home. After K-Mart, Bob worked for HTI, retiring in 2014. Deciding to go back to work at 68 years old, Bob used his college degree and got his teaching license so he could be a sub.

Family meant EVERTHING to Bob. From going to Madison every few weeks to visit his oldest son Erik, to cookouts and shopping trips with his daughters.

Along came grandkids and Grandpa Bob turned to complete mush. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them, taking them to get treats, bringing them to Ogema to make sure they all knew where he grew up.

One of Bob's favorite things to do was to cook and grocery shop. Even when he was having a hard time with mobility, he still went to Festival Foods everyday for his morning coffee, to chat with buddies and to walk up and down the aisles.

Dad, you are the BEST dad, grandpa and friend. We are all truly bless to have you as our dad. We will miss your daily phone calls and texts just to say "what's up". We love you dad.

Bob has some special people who have been waiting for him in Heaven. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Dorothy; brother Philip; sister Doris Ekstrom; sisters-in-law Melia "Sue" Larson and Betty Larson.

Bob leaves behind his son Erik (Molly) Larson; daughters: Anna (Andy) Goss and Ruth Anne (Larry) French; granddaughter Mackenzie (Zach) Goss; grandsons: Charles and Clayton Hestekin and Andrew Goss; sister Betty (Steve) Otto; brother-in-law Karl (special friend Kathy) Ekstrom; ex-wife Liz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family would like to thank Mayo Eau Claire and Mayo Osseo for the outstanding care they provided Bob over these past weeks. Also, a special thanks to Cahl for helping our dad around his apartment for many years.

Honorary pallbearers are: Karl Ekstrom, Andy Goss, Bradley Nelson, Larry French, Steve Otto, Mike Naney and Larry Foley.

A time of gathering will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Burial will take place at a later date at the Ogema Cemetery, Ogema, WI.
