Robin Ann McConnell December 28, 1956- September 23, 2024
NICKELSVILLE, VA - Robin Ann McConnell, age 67 of Nickelsville, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 23, 2024. Robin was born on December 28, 1956, in Kingsport, TN to Hulbert and Jo Ann Vicars. On January 23, 1976, Robin married her most cherished friend and love of her life, Darrell McConnell, and after 48 years of a beautiful life together and raising a family, he survives.
Robin found joy in being outside and cooking. She was a faithful member at Pleasant View Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Nickelsville, and she spent her life helping others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Robin was always ready to help those in need; and she loved cooking for others. She was a true living testimony of her Lord and Savior.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Baylie Light; and one uncle, Harold Frasier. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Darrell McConnell; daughter, Jodie Light and husband Sean; son, Josh Darrell McConnell; grandsons, Jackson Light, and Colby Light and wife Madie; special granddaughters, Ella and Olivia; brother, Bill Vicars and wife Teresa; special uncle, Billy Jack Frazier; nieces, Jan Taylor and husband Greg, Pam Wright and husband Doug, Kim Hilton and fiancée Danny, Lisa Phillips and husband Wes, and Tammy Anderson; nephews, Doug McConnell, and Steve McConnell; sisters-in-law "who were more like sisters", Betty Grossman, Natalie Francisco, Patsy Hilton and husband Buster, and Sue Tignor; and many special friends, neighbors, church family, and co-workers.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the staff at Caris Hospice in Big Stone Gap, Dr. Shipstone and the entire Ballad Cancer Center Staff in Kingsport, Dr. Choi and staff at Duke Blood Cancer Center, the staff at UT Medical on 5 West, and Robin's church family at Pleasant View Independent Missionary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Pleasant View Independent Missionary Baptist Church, located at 237 Pleasant View Lane, Nickelsville, VA 24271 and/or Free Hill Baptist Church "Meals of Love", P.O. Box 195, Nickelsville, VA 24271.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Johnson officiating. Heath Henry, Lowell Hammonds, Sean Light, Jackson Light, Gary Frasier, and Tyler Parks will be serving as pallbearers. Sammy Parks and the men of Pleasant View Independent Missionary Baptist Church will be serving as honorary pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm.

Darrell, Jodie, Josh, Jackson, you all are in mine and Paul´s prayers. I have just loved Robin since I met her in 2005 when I first came to pleasant view church. Paul met her and Darrell at the cancer center. We have been praying for God to touch her body and help her through this journey. Paul is going through a similar journey. You all are still in our prayers and we will visit in a week or so, we are out of town right now. Love and prayers. Looking forward to the day we see Robin in her new pain free body!
