Roger Daniel Langrel May 25, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - Roger Daniel Langrel, aged 80, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at NHC Health Care in Johnson City.
Born in Big Stone Gap, VA, to the late Charles and Eunice Scalf Langrel, Roger was a long-time resident of Johnson City. He was a proud alumnus of Powell Valley High School, Virginia, class of 1964, where he excelled as a football player and track athlete. He furthered his education at Clinch Valley College in Virginia before beginning his career at Eastman Chemical Company in 1966 as a draftsman. He later enjoyed his work as a supervisor for the yards and grounds department, retiring in 2011 after 45 years of dedicated service.
Beyond his professional life, Roger was passionate about football and sailing, and was a member of the Watauga Sailing Club. He loved participating in sailboat races every summer weekend at Watauga Lake. His faith was important to him, and he served as a deacon at Boones Creek Baptist Church. In retirement, he enjoyed watching his grandson play baseball and spending quality time with his two granddaughters.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, his sister Barbara Clark, and his brother Charles Dennis Langrel.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Mary Alice Langrel; his son, Charles Brandon Langrel and his wife Lesley; his daughter, Allison Leigh Hutto and her husband Cade; his sister, Clarice Hanson; and his three grandchildren, Connor Langrel, Isla and Margo Hutto.
Visitation for Mr. Roger Langrel will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City. The funeral service will commence at 7:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Jason Royston.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Boones Creek Baptist Church, Gray, TN.

WORKED WITH ROGER SEVERAL YRS AT EASTMAN, THOUGHT A LOT OF HIM, HE WAS A VERY GOOD CHRISTIAN PERSON, I HATE TO HEAR OF HIS PASSING, HE WILL BE MISSED!! MAY GOD GIVE THE FAMILY SPECIAL GRACE DURING THIS TIME!!

Mary and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Roger from the time he started working in engineering at Eastman and through the years at Eastman. He was always one of the sweetest and kindest people I´ve ever known. My love and sympathy to you and the family.
