GATE CITY, VA - Ruby I. Sloan 91 of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord after an extended period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Barnett and Elizabeth Stapleton. Mrs. Sloan was a homemaker and enjoyed watching westerns on TV and listening to southern blue grass gospel music. She also attended Sloantown Community Church. Other than her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Sloan in 2015; daughter Karen Sloan; five brothers; three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Quillen (Danny); three sons, Gary Sloan, Mike Sloan (Donna) and Ronnie Sloan (Misty); son-in-law, Lester Sloan; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1 – 2 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA and anytime at the home of Ron and Misty Sloan. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Combs and Brother Danny Quillen officiating. Interment will follow in the Sloantown Community Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
