FORT BLACKMORE, VA – Rufus "Wayne" Gillenwater, age 71 of Fort Blackmore, VA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
He was born in Scott County, VA on July 17, 1951 to the late Darius Lee Gillenwater and Louise Perry Gillenwater. Wayne was a cattle farmer.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gillenwater was preceded in death by his brother, Carol Gillenwater and sister, Bonnie Lou Frank.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Shirley Harrington; brothers, Troy Lee Gillenwater, Dallas Earl Gillenwater (companion Nancy Dishner), Edwin Scott Gillenwater, Roger Allen Gillenwater; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 23, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Johnny Duncan officiating.
Music will be provided by Chris Holder
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 1 PM in the Gillenwater Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, VA.
Pallbearers will be friends and nephews.
