Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Sarah Ruth Wright Salyer joined our father, Richard Sidney Salyer, in heaven on February 5, 2025. Ruth was born on September 20, 1931, in Young Harris, GA, and moved to Kingsport, TN in 1950. She worked downtown where she met the handsome Sidney Salyer, and they married on May 11, 1951.
We rejoice that Mother accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and will spend eternity with Jesus. Ruth has five children; Rick Salyer, Judy Chaffin, Janet Salyer, Jewel Taylor, and Ron Salyer. Ruth has 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected this year; and 6 great-great grandchildren; many spouses have joined the family whom she loved dearly. Ruth also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth was a housewife and mother to her growing family. We all loved to eat her cooking, and many whispered that Ruth could make dirt taste good. She loved to sew, make jelly, and handcrafts, she also loved to bowl. Over the years, Ruth taught Sunday School for children and adults. She also held monthly devotions at the Bloomingdale Senior Citizens for more than a decade. She loved to study the Bible and prepare for the lessons and devotions. Mother and Jewel kept local yard sales and estate sales busy! Ruth loved a bargain. Mother, we love you and miss you. Enjoy your rest in Jesus. We will join you one happy day!
The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating.
A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Ruth is the mother of my friend, Janet. Over the years, sweet Ruth would bless me with many of her handmade items. While I never got to meet her, I would send her birthday cards and thank you cards. She was a very thoughtful and kind person. May you rest in peace, Ruth.
