October 28, 2025
Stony Miles Colley passed away, October 28, 2025, after an extended battle with dementia, at NHC Kingsport, surrounded by his wife, family and caregiver of NHC.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wayne Baker officiating.
Military graveside service with American Legion Posts 3/265, at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Hunter White, Cameron White, Mason Riddle, Adam McMurray, Ryker McMurray, Todd Goins, Tracy Massie and Justin Colley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Smith, Bryon Snapp, Ronnie Dunnigan and Gary Bartley.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Home Instead and caregiver, Sharon.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one's choice.

I worked with Stony at the Tri-City (TRI) FAA Flight Service Station (FSS) while on TDY from W TN from late 1993 until early 1994. He brought me up to speed on all things in Kingsport and SW VA that I had missed from my 1950-60s growing up days. He was an asset to the aviation public, providing services to enhance flying safety. At the end of TRI's existence, he was appointed acting air traffic manager (ATM). RIP Stony.
