Travis H. Baker, age 55, went home to be with the Lord and his mother, father, and brother on Friday morning, November 22, 2024. Travis was born on July 4, 1969. He was mom's firecracker baby!
Travis was a born-again Christian. He was saved and baptized at the early age of 20 years old. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. He often spoke of God's blessings every day. Travis attended Pleasant View Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, class of 1987, where he was a varsity football team manager. Travis was a part of Dobyns-Bennett Athletics for 40 years working in the activities department and Kingsport Mets/Axmen. One of his greatest joys in life was working and attending athletic events at Dobyns-Bennett and UT football. Once an Indian Always and Indian.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, George Doty and Ruby Gulnell Baker; and his brother, George N. Baker.
Survivors include his brothers, Darrell Baker (Angie), Timothy Baker, and Don Cobb, all of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Family will receive friends for 5pm – 7pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A service will follow with Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor David Begley officiating.
Graveside services will take place at 12pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens, Rogersville.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dobyns-Bennett Athletic Department, 1 Tribe Way, Kingsport, TN 37664, in memory of Travis Baker.
