KINGSPORT - Verna Estil Meade, age 84 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Verna was born on September 17, 1940, in Nickelsville, VA to Luster and Lois Harlow. Verna was a long-time employee of Walmart in Kingsport, and she attended Mount Nebo Baptist Church.

Verna was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found peace spending time outdoors and reading her Bible. She enjoyed traditional gospel music and spending time with her family.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Meade; two brothers, Paul, and Neil; and two sisters, Sue, and Dorothy. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Mike Meade, and Tim Meade; one granddaughter, Keshia Hamblin and husband, Derek; two great-granddaughters, Harper, and Emersyn; two sisters, Rubye Carter, and Linda Portwood and husband, Presley; one brother, Danny Harlow and wife, Marie; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Brother Paul Allison officiating. A graveside will follow at Holston View Cemetery. Verna's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
