Vincent H. Murray, Jr., born January 7, 1945, passed peacefully in his sleep on November 6, 2023. He and Ruth Ann (Johnson) Murray were married for 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Lee and Vincent H. Murray, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, daughters Karin Burnette (Mike) and Cheryl Wampler (Scott), son Brett Murray (Heather), grandchildren Sara and Ty Burnette, Meg Rinehart and Rose Murray, and Clay and Casey Wampler.
Vince graduated from Boones Creek High School and the Apprentice Program at Eastman. He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic and Job Planner for 51 years before retiring. He enjoyed improving and fixing things. He enjoyed coaching softball when his children were at Central Heights Elementary School. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Randy Lyn Murray (Mada), Randy's daughter, Jessica Murray, Mada's son, Dustin Valentour (Jessica) and Jessica's son, Jax, Lauren Valentour (Michael Hankins), CL Murray, and several cousins.
His favorite scripture was "we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV).
The family will receive friends 5:00–7:00 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Akard Funeral Home. The funeral service and burial will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Immanual Lutheran Church in Blountville.
